Archery Festival Fundraiser Event
Gilbert Archery's Fundraiser for the Archery Program at Sunshine Acres Children's Home
Coming Again December 7 2019 from 1-4pm
Dec 8 2018, Gilbert Archery celebrated it's one year anniversary by holding a fundraiser to help support an archery program at Sunshine Acres Children's Home. Sunshine Acres provides a loving, wholesome, Christian home for children who are separated from their parents. They help the children establish long-term relationships with stable parental figures and provide emotional, social, physical, educational, and spiritual support, preparing them for success in adult life. Archery enhances these goals by giving the children a fun outlet to build connections and social skills while teaching them a sport they can participate in the rest of their lives.
A big thank you to all that joined us for a day of family fun and helping to support these children!
Participants got to meet archers from the United States Archery Team
And Watch Them Demonstrate Their Skills
The Pros demonstrated their skills in being able to shoot an apple off a head at 30 meters. Some fans walked down to ensure the heads were intact. Except for a little apple juice running between their eyes, the heads were unharmed.
Everyone Got To Try Shooting A Bow
With the help of some of the kids from Sunshine Acres, and some of our women's league, who volunteered to help, we had an area where participants tried out their shooting skills. Even if they never picked up a bow before, most were hitting the target.
Some Even Shot Against A Pro
Even though her scores weren't higher, this young lady couldn't lose with the fun she had shooting against a pro.
The Silent Auction Raised Funds Thanks To Our Sponsors
Special thanks to the sponsors: Thrivent Financial, Arizona Archery Enterprises, Starbucks, Ashlee’s Print Shoppe, and Upward Projects. Without their generous donations, the event wouldn’t have been possible.
Archery Art Was A Popular Activity
Some of the youth from Sunshine Acres Children's Home helped pin up balloons, filled with paint, that participants enjoyed shooting, to create amazing pictures.
The Little Kids Enjoyed Bow Fishing
More Sunshine Acres youth get ready to help the youngest participants do some bow fishing.
